Valencia Classic

Valencia: Classic lustrewares
Produced during the 15th century.
This group represents the peak of Valencian lustreware production. The approximate end date of c.1475 marks the influx of Renaissance pottery design from Italy and start of a decline in the export of Valencian lustreware.

Within the suggested date range a more refined chronology has been proposed on the basis of the development of decorative motifs, many dated by accompanying painted armorial shields, and also through contemporary oil paintings.
The main forms produced (bowls, plates, serving dishes, jugs, albarelli, flower pots, pedestal jugs and bottles) are illustrated here.
